Introduction
When comparing my Storyline projects with other instructional design projects, my projects felt flat. I pinpointed the major difference being the lack of animation in my projects, so I decided to learn Vyond. I used the limited trial, so I had to learn quick. At first, I planned to just play around in the program, but I learn better with a goal in mind. So, I asked ChatGPT to create a storyboard and script for a lesson I could create in Vyond. I asked it to use a topic I’m passionate about– slow fashion. Since my focus on this project was to learn the Vyond program in a short amount of time, I didn’t give as much attention to the actual lesson as I would normally. A stronger lesson would have more decision-making opportunities, but since that is handled best in Storyline, I bypassed those in favor of learning more about Vyond.
The Problem
People may desire to change their wardrobe to reflect their values, such as sustainability and ethical production processes, but making the change seems daunting. However, the alternative is deciding what to wear each morning while looking at a closet filled with ill-fitting clothes purchased simply because they were on sale. Having a smaller wardrobe filled with versatile pieces that all fit and reflect one’s style creates a more peaceful and authentic experience.

The Solution
I decided to create this micro-learning experience to show that the process of changing one’s wardrobe doesn’t have to be complicated. I used ChatGPT to help create the storyboard and script, so I could focus my time on learning the new software. I didn’t follow all of the AI suggestions, but I picked those that would allow me to learn more about Vyond and still create an engaging learning opportunity.
What I Learned
I realize that I still have a lot to learn about the functionality of Vyond, but I am proud of what I was able to accomplish with the limitations I had. I have used PowToon in the past, and that experience helped me catch on quickly to the new application. There are things I wish Vyond would do, and I don’t know if I need more time in the software or if it was a limitation of my subscription level. I was easily able to integrate the videos into the Storyline lesson, and I also learned some more Storyline techniques in this creation process. Overall, I like the dynamic feel of the Vyond/video lessons, and I look forward to getting to work in this medium some more.
